Octavian Florescu, PhD, has over 15 years of experience in the semiconductor working with DEC, GE, Nokia, Quake Technologies and Qualcomm. He received a BS in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada, in 2004 and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Berkeley Sensor & Actuator Center, Dept. of Electrical Engineering, University of California, in 2010, with a minor in Molecular and Cell Biology. The CMOS biosensor technology used in the Xip products is based on his research, done in conjunction with Prof. Boser, Prof. Beatty and Prof. Harris. Outside of work, Octavian is an avid surfer, despite the cold, powerful and sharky waters of Northern California.
