Chieh Chang received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley in 2009, and his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Power Mechanical Engineering from the National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, in 2001 and 2003 respectively. While working toward his Ph.D. degree, he focused his research on organic nanomaterial synthesis and integration for applications in energy generation, tissue engineering, bio sensor, optical waveguide, and nanofludics. In particular, he demonstrated a direct-write PVDF nanogenerator with energy conversion efficiency an order of magnitude higher than those made of PVDF thin films. For his master’s degree, he implemented lobster-sniffing inspired actuators for micro-particle manipulation in liquid environment.
