Vedavalli Krishnan received her MSEE from Univ. of Washington and BS-MATH, BSEE from I.I.T Madras. She is a EE Ph.D student at UC Berkeley and is advised by Prof. Maharbiz. During the prior 30 years, she lead research , standards making and global product development in medical, communication and consumer electronics fields. Her current research focus is on micro power which she plans to apply to mobile devices and to extend to renewable energy.
Harvesting Energy from Evaporation [BPN519]
Mimicking the transport of water in plants, the goal of this project is to harvest energy from evaporation-driven flows. This will be achieved by the use of an efficient micro-hydro power generator that is driven by the creeping flow of evaporation and fabricating a synthetic leaf that mimics the transport and transpiration of water in plants.
