BIOGRAPHY
Yipeng Lu received the B.Sc. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Jilin University, Changchun, China in 2007 and the M.Sc. degree in Microelectronics and Solid State Electronics from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China in 2010. He worked in HUAWEI until 2011 when he joined into UCD MEMSLab under the supervision of Prof. David A. Horsley. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. from Mechanical Engineering at UC Davis.

High Frequency Piezoelectric Micromachined Ultrasound Transducers (PMUTs) [BPN628]
The goal of the current research is to design and fabricate high frequency piezoelectric
micromachined ultrasound transducers (PMUTs) for medical imaging and fingerprint sensors, which
requires a narrow acoustic beam and high transmitting and receiving sensitivities. The simple process
is developed to enable PMUT array with a high fill factor and small size of devices. The fabricated
PZT and AlN PMUTs are characterized in mechanical, electrical and acoustic domains. Further
characterizations of acoustic beam size and pulse echo imaging are to be done for final
demonstration.
