This project aims to develop smart materials which change their physical properties in respond to the external stimuli such as electrical or optical signal, mechanical strain, pH, and so on. We are currently focused on the development of smart nanoconnectors for the interconnection between self-assembling programmable matter. For this purpose, we are investigating a broad range of hybrid nanowire forests with tunable binding properties in response to external stimuli. In addition, we are interested in the development of color tunable materials with mechanical or electrical stimuli. For this purpose, we are investigating a broad range of color generating materials or structures, e.g., plasmonic materials, high refractive index materials, diffractive structures, etc.
