The Software Warehouse (SWW)
The Software Warehouse (SWW) is a fantastic resource. Use it, and use
it often. It is where all of the EECS software is held and updated.
As an EECS user, you have free access to this resource for downloading and
installing the software it contains. However, you must do so on a machine
that has been added to the EECS domain.
- Click Start > Control Panel.
- Double click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click Add New Programs.
- Find the software you wish to install, click it and click the Add button.
- The software will automatically be downloaded and installed.
Installing additional software packages supported by the SWW:
Try the three following approaches.
 | Simply try to use the add-in you wish to install.
 | For example, to install add-ins (such as the Analysis ToolPac) in
Excel: |
- Open Excel.
- Click Tools > Add-ins...
- Select the add-ins you wish to install.
- Click OK.
- The add-ins are automatically installed.
|
OR...
Sometimes components are kept on extra discs in the SWW. For example,
MS Photo Editor is kept on Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Disc 2. So, follow
the installation instructions above like so:
- Click Start > Control Panel.
- Double click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click Add New Programs.
- Find the software you wish to install, click it and click the Add button.
- The software will automatically be downloaded and installed.
OR...
- Click Start > Control Panel.
- Double click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click Change or Remove Programs.
- Find the software you wish to change, click it and click the Change/Remove
button.
- If the software can be altered, you will be given the option to change the
settings. WARNING: be careful not to inadvertently remove software you
want.
Accessing the SWW directly:
- Click Start > Run...
- Type in \\winsww\sww\public
- Choose the software you desire.

Frequently you will need software not contained within the SWW. To
install this software:
- Logon as Administrator for the computer (not Administrator for the EECS
domain).
- Install the software as usual.

Accessing \\coeus & \\winsww
when logged onto the computer and not the EECS domain
If you are logged onto the computer and not the EECS domain, you can access
the SWW or coeus by:
- Click Start > Run...
- Type in \\coeus or \\winsww
- A screen will pop up asking for your username and password.
- Under username, type: eecs\username
- Enter your password and click OK.
- You now have access to your EECS resources on coesu or winsww.
