Characterization of the FPW
with Atomic Force Microscopy
Both images below give an AFM scan of a
5 um x 5 um square section of the FPW membrane (Al). In the first photo,
the transducer drive was switched on half way through the scan. The high
frequency spatial fluctuations are believed to be random phase
interactions between of the membrane and AFM tip. The amplitude, measured
as the average height of each data point, overtstates the membrane
amplitude.
